Great Ocean Road (B100) is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular coastal road of the world. Approximately 90 minutes far from Melbourne (see our post for the top things you can not miss in the city!), driving from Torquay to Nelson, 400 km of beaches, cliffs, lovely villages, rain forests and National Parks will enchant you! It was on top of our travel bucket list and also today we remind this as one of the most incredible exerience we ever had.

1. Looking at the perfect waves of Torquay beach or Bell's beach. Even though the famous final scene of "Point Break" was not really filmed here, this place is for sure one of the Australian's best surf beaches and it worths a visit

2. Spotting some kangaroos in the golf area of Anglesea

3. Relaxing in one of the beautiful beaches of Aireys Inlet. One of our preferred is Fairhaven Beach, if you are lucky in the morning you can also spot wonderful rainbows over the sea

4. Passing through the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch, spending some time to understand the challenges faced by the workers died in the construction of the road

5. Taking some lovely shots of the koalas living in Kennet River close to the Caravan Park along Grey River road

6. Relaxing or having a lunch break in Apollo Bay. In the visitor center you can find useful info for different activiites and guided tour of the area. From here starts the famous Great Ocean Walk with its 104 km scenic walk

7. Exploring the awesome Cape Otway, one of the most Southern point of Australia. Here you can find the most ancient lighthouse of Australia and have a walk in the Cape Otway National Park. Several paths are available with different lenght and you can walk in the rain forest among a beautifull vegetation and pleasant waterfalls

8. Admiring the Twelve Apostoles, one of the most famous coastal landscape of the world. Today only eight of these limestone stacks are visible due to the erosion of the waves, but the view from the panoramic platform is really breathtaking. Only 2 minutes from here we suggest you a quick leg to Gibson Steps, a staircase carved in the cliff leading down to a wild marvel beach

9. Wandering the trails of the Loch Ard Gorge, a hidden treasure made of offshore limestone stacks and towering cliffs. This site takes its name from the Loch Ard shipwreck in 1878, when Tom and Eva were the only two survivors of this tragic event. We suggest you to climb down the cliff through the stairway and stroll down the beach

10. Whale-watching from the Logan's Beach Platform close to Warrnambool. Every year from July to September female Southern Right whales swim within a hundred metres of the shore and can be spotted from the platform
